Note: Independent recovery means the child stands up without using the wall/steps/
teacher as an aid.

- 5m streamlined unaided kicking on front (arms correct position)
- 5m streamlined unaided kicking on back (arms correct position)
- 10m frontcrawl – arms clearing water with breath
- Frontcrawl standing breathing with arms
- Sculling arms headfirst on back
- 10m backcrawl – arms clearing water, with breathing
- 360â—¦ rotation with a breath – arms stretched behind head or down at sides
- introduction to deep water
Adv. Beginner 1
- Jump in and recover to wall at 1m and 1.5m depth
- 10m frontcrawl with breath to side every 2/3 strokes
- 10m backcrawl, arms clearing water, streamlined body position, with breathing
- Streamlined 180â—¦ rotation every 4/5 strokes
- 10m inverted breaststroke unaided
- 10m breaststroke with correct feet position – kick/arms/breath
- 10m dolphin kick – arms at side/streamlined

- 15m sculling – head or feet first
- Treading water – 60 seconds
- Head/feet first surface dive to retrieve sinker at 1.5m depth

- Correct starts (push & glide) and touch finishes
- 25m Frontcrawl – continuous, efficient stroke, breathe to side every 2/3 strokes
- 25m Backcrawl – continuous, arms clearing water, efficient stroke,
streamlined, with breathing - 25m Breaststroke – correct technique, dorsi-flexed feet,
correct timing (Pull, Breathe, Kick, Glide) - 25m Butterfly – 2 kick, 1 arm cycle, breathing every 1 or 2 strokes
- 25m Inverted Breaststroke – continuous, dorsi-flexed feet
- Straddle jump into 1.5m deep water and tread water for 60 seconds
- 25m streamlined 360â—¦ rotation on 6-kick cycle
